AFC disbanded.
25 Jul: Death of Sir Samuel McCaughey who immigrated to Australia as young man and acquired considerable wealth by his skill in development of large rural properties in NSW. Among the charitable bequests in his will was that which provided funds to assist the education of children of soldiers killed in World War I.
19 Dec: Ross and Keith Smith, arrive Darwin in Vickers Vimy 28 days after leaving London.

16 Nov: Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Co Ltd. (QANTAS) formed.

1921

May: RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) formed.

1928

21 Feb: Bert Hinkler arrives in Darwin after 14 day solo flight from London in Avro Avian.
9 Jun: Charles Kingsford Smith with Ulm, Warner and Lyon arrive Brisbane after eight day flight in tri-motor Fokker from Oakland, California via Honolulu and Fiji.

1932

Japan attacks Shanghai (the Fake War). Japanese troops in action in China.

1933

Qantas and Imperial Airways survey London-Brisbane air route.

1934

Scott and Black win London to Melbourne McPherson-Robertson air race in DH Comet in elapsed time of 70 hours 50 minutes.

1936

CAC (Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation) formed to manufacture aircraft in Australia.

1937

Decision made to manufacture Wirraway fighter in Australia (based on US NA-16 and NA-33 training aircraft).
Staff of Meteorological Branch, Dept of Interior increased from 92 to 151. Japan officially at war with China.

1938

Port Moresby designated as RAAF base (without staff or aircraft).
