School of Physics (1945 - )

The Department of Natural Philosophy was established at the University of Melbourne in 1882. On the recommendation of the British Institute of Physics, the name of the department was changed to the School of Physics in 1945.

1945	Government provides £40,000 to add extra two storeys to Physics building
1973	Physics moves from the 1888 building to the new Physics and Related Sciences buildings in the north east corner of the grounds
