Applied Research in the 70s and 80sThe new perceptions generated in the re-organization led to new proposals for research from the scientists, and new statements of problems from the armed forces. The changes were evolutionary in nature. For example the research into materials, electronics, aeronautics, oceanology, lasers,[62] and indeed the whole gamut of subjects was not immediately altered, but built upon the previous experiences to address problems in a more defined way. Some examples of this are described in the following sections.
