Series 4007 contains working papers in relation to numerous documents written by Diane Elizabeth Barwick, none of which have so far been classified among Series 4001 - Series 4006 of the Barwick Collection.

The working papers in this series relate to published articles, essays in historical dictionaries, papers presented at conferences and other events, a report for the Albury and District Local Aboriginal Land Council, and other documents written by Diane Barwick.

This series includes working papers about conference papers written by Diane Barwick which have not come to light elsewhere in her record collection. One such paper is entitled 'Aboriginal Women in a Changing Society'. Diane Barwick presented this paper at a conference of the National Council of Aboriginal Women held on 28-30 January 1972. Series 4007 includes a draft copy, correspondence, and other records about this conference paper. See inventory item BARI02594.

This series includes working papers about written works whose publication details are unknown. These include, for example, draft extracts, index cards and correspondence for a document entitled 'Appendix I - The Marawara and the Yelta Missionaries'. See inventory item BARI01571.

This series also includes working papers for documents which were unpublished at the time of Diane Barwick's death. This manuscript appears to be a complete draft of the seminar paper extant in Inventory Item BARI01532, located in Series 3 of the Barwick Collection.

This inventory item also contains two handwritten research notes, in Diane Barwick's hand. Details are as follows:

Note which begins 'opinion of Abos [Aborigines] re Goodall - Braham case 1877.' Note features a written complaint made by John Ross, resident at Framlingham Station, about refusal of his clothing issue by somebody called 'Thwaites'. Reference on research note reads 'BIL-F 30/7/85.' Small slip of paper;

Note which begins '1877:105 Dawson re Fram [Framlingham].' Note features an observation to the effect that 'the religious element imposed' on Framlingham residents was excessive and 'a bore'. Note also features a second reference that reads 'Embling on Fram 1877:107.' A4 sheet;

This inventory item also contains a manila folder inscribed 'Diane's Ms List - Ms: "They All Say They Won't Shift, No Matter What Government Does".' This folder originally housed the records listed above, as well as the records in Inventory Item BARI03262, which is located in Series 1 of the Barwick Collection.
