The new course in Meteorology at the University of Melbourne became formerly available in 1940. Fritz Loewe was brought out by Raymond Priestley using Carnegie Foundation funds, as Senior Lecturer in Meteorolgy. Loewe headed the department until his retirement in 1960, afterwhich time Uwe Radok took over as Reader-in-Charge and later Chairman of the Department 1975 - 1977. Martin James Ditmar Jenssen them took over as Senior Lecturer and chairman until William Francis Budd was appointed foundation Professor of Meteorology and Chairman in July 1978 - 1992. |
