After World War II Blackwood was Lecturer in Botany and Dean of Women at the Mildura Branch of the University of Melbourne. She was at Cambridge 1948-50 before returning to Melbourne where she was a Senior Lecturer until her retirement in 1975. |

Caroline Kay Research Scholar in Plant Cytology and Genetics 1939-41; WAAF 1941-46, rising to Wing Officer; lecturer in botany and Dean of Women, Mildura Branch, University of Melbourne 1946-48; Newnham College, Cambridge 1948-50; senior lecturer, University of Melbourne 1951-75; member of University Council 1975-83, Deputy Vice-chancellor 1981-83. Founder Fellow, Janet Clarke Hall, University of Melbourne; Australian and New Zealand Chairman, Soroptimist International Association 1957-58. | |
