Professor McKenzie was appointed Dean of Science on 13 July 1998. In 1998, he had been Deputy Dean and Associate Dean (Finance and Facilities) in the Faculty of Science and before that served as Associate Dean (Students). Previously McKenzie was the Head of the Department of Genetics 1996 - June 1998. |

An internationally-renowned researcher on the population genetics of insecticide resistance, McKenzie's research work on practical and economically-important problems such as controlling sheep blowfly made significant contributions to understanding basic evolutionary processes, acknowledged by peers as 'a classic in evolutionary biology as well as in applied science.' | |
