Most of the pages are handwritten by either Willis (or Nicholls?). Includes a typed title page with 'Orchids of Australia. Drawn in Natural Colour by William Henry Nicholls with descriptive text. Georgian House, Melbourne Australia. An Australian Society Publication' inscribed on it; a Preface by Nicholls in July 1950; and a forward by botanist Cyril Tenison White dated 10 June 1950. Just prior to the book's publication, Nicholls died on 10 March 1951. As outlined in Nicholl's Preface, J.H. Willis had agreed to edit the text, and after Nicholls death he consented to arrange and edit the entire letterpress' for the work, as specified on a page titled 'Announcement'.
