Correspondence to and from Dr Jan Sapp concerning the Briggs Affair.

The correspondence in this series includes letters from Deakin University about Dr Sapp's Freedom of Information (FOI) application, and letters and memos from Dr T. D. Stokes from the Department of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Wollongong about the progress of a proposed book entitled "Fabricating Facts: Gross Scientific Misconduct", plus a copy of an article that appeared in Search in March 1989 by Dr Stokes.

Briggs and his wife, Dr Maxine Briggs; copy of Dr Briggs' letter of appointment to Deakin University; copies of the various letters of complaint about Professor Briggs; copies of correspondence between Professor Jevons and Professor Briggs, and other associated correspondence.

Correspondence files of Professor Fred Jevons, Vice Chancellor of Deakin University, about Professor Michael H. Briggs. These files include copies of letters of complaint against Professor Briggs, as well as notes about actions taken by Professor Jevons to deal with the situation.

Copies of correspondence to and from Professor Fred Jevons concerning the disposal of papers left on Deakin University premises by Professor Michael Briggs when he left Australia in 1985.

This series contains a 169-page manuscript entitled "What is Truth?" by Professor Fred Jevons. Professor Jevons was closely involved with the Briggs affair in his capacity as Vice Chancellor of Deakin University. "What is Truth?" covers the events of the case in detail, including the first and second University inquiries, Michael Briggs' resignation from Deakin University, and the media coverage of the case.
