The Development section of the Pigments Plant at Laverton, headed by a Chief Development Officer overseeing development officers, a Plant Colorist (also known as the Works Colorist), Lab Technicians and (in the late 1960s) two Trainee Chemists.

Chief Development Officers included Alan R. Barlee (later Development Superintendent under Pigment Manufacturers of Australia Limited, and General Manager of PMA Ltd from 1984). W. A. Braun (referred to in some early papers as Works Colorist) may also have been a Chief Development Officer or equivalent prior to Alan Barlee's appointment.

Other Development staff from the Pigments Plant at Laverton with records in this collection include Derek W. Richards (Development Officer - Azo Pigments) and J. Murtagh (Plant Colorist).
