Description

Photographs, typescript accounts of the expedition, correspondence. This series documents one of the most important expeditions of PCM's career. The purpose of the Mackay expedition to Central Australia was to carry out survey work, investigate the flora and fauna, and observe the Aborigines of a part of Australia at that time relatively unknown and mysterious. The series includes many significant photographs of Aborigines of the Pinto and Eumo tribes, and PCM's detailed accounts of their life and culture.

Scullin; aircraft at the aerodrome at Ilbilla; menu of farewell luncheon for expedition members at Parliament House, Canberra, 23 May 1930.
