Dr. Harry Ward was a member of the Australian Society of Immunologists and its successor organisations for many years, attending the First Annual Meeting of the Society in 1971. His satchel from this event is included in this collection (reference below).

In 1993, when the role of Honorary Archivist was created for the Australasian Society for Immunology Incorporated (ASI Inc.), Dr. Ward was appointed to the position, which he held until late 1997. During his time in the role, Dr. Ward collected papers and documents from the history of the Society, and placed notices in Society newsletters requesting donations from members, in an attempt to fill gaps in the collection.

Dr. Ward also worked with Gavan McCarthy from the Australian Science Archive Project to arrange and describe the collection, resulting in the first edition of this Guide to Records in c.1994.

In 2000, he contributed further material to the collection, including some of his own files as well as papers sent to him by other members of ASI Inc.
