Born: 21 August 1905  Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.  Died: 22 February 1986.

Pescott was the seventh Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne 1957-70. Previously he had worked in the Science Section of the Victorian Department of Agriculture and was Director of the National Museum of Victoria 1944-57.


Career Highlights

Born 21 August 1905. Died 22 February 1986. Educated Wesley College, Melbourne; MAgrSc, University of Melbourne. Joined Department of Agriculture in 1928. Government Entomologist from March 1935 to March 1944. Commanded Australian Mobile Entomological Section of 2nd AIF. Director, National Museum of Victoria 1944-57. Member of Grimwade Expedition to Western Australia 1947. Director, Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne 1957-70. President, Entomological Society of Victoria 1935. President, Melbourne University Agricultural Society 1945-46. President, Royal Society of Victoria 1963-64.
