Born: 11 March 1895 Germany. Died: 27 March 1974. | |
Loewe established the first Australian university Department of Meteorology at the University of Melbourne in 1937 and remained there until his retirement in 1959. Earlier he worked for the Prussian Meteorological Service and joined the A. Wegener expeditions. |

Born 11 March 1895. Died 27 March 1974. PhD in geography and physics. Radio operator in an artillery unit during World War I. Radiation research in Switzerland, "Meteor" expedition, Atlantic Ocean, Lindenberg observatory, all during 1920s. Wegener expedition to Greenland ice cap, 1929-30. Forced to leave Germany in 1934, Scott Polar Research Institute, Cambridge, 1934-37, first lecturer in meteorology, University of Melbourne, 1937-1960. | |
