This inventory item contains a diary kept by Nancye Kent Perry during an overseas trip she made with Enid and Palmer Kent, her parents, and Pauline Kent, her sister. Daily entries begin Saturday 2 April 1938 and end Wednesday 25 January 1939 (1939 entries appear at the beginning of the book).

Diary features descriptions of scenery, people and places encountered during the trip, as well as weather conditions, conversations held, titles of cinema viewed, meals consumed, etc. Also includes references to a diplomatic visit made by British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain to Berchtesgaden, Germany, to meet with Adolf Hitler (see entries for 12-16 September 1938).

Typescript, sixty-eight pages. Diary is enclosed in a folder inscribed 'Nancye'.

Enclosed loose in the pages of the diary are:
- Newspaper article about city of Bandung in West Jave, Indonesia, published in The Age, 16 March 1991;
- Postcard received by Nancye Kent from Enid Kent, depicting the Hotel Atlantic in Hamburg, Germany. Postcard is addressed to Nancye at Poste Restante, 'Bruscalles' [Brussels] Belgium, and date-stamped 15 September 1938;
- Unsent postcard entitled 'The Blue Idol, Coolham, Horsham' depicting a tudor-style house in West Sussex.

Satchel with external stitching, two metal buckles and a lock (key is not extant). The inside cover features a luggage sticker. The following words are embossed in gold letters on the front of the satchel - 'Presented to Miss Nancye E. Kent by the staff of the Forest Products Research Laboratory - Princes Risborough - 17-6-1950'.

The records located in Inventory Items PERR00898, PERR00899 and PERR00900 in Series 5 of the Perry Collection were originally housed in the pockets of this satchel.
